Have you wanted to learn German for a while and are finally ready to get serious?
Or perhaps you’ve started learning German with Duolingo, Rosetta stone, etc., but find they’re not teaching you the ‘bigger picture’ of how German actually works.
Sometimes even finding a good German class locally can be challenging, though.
So, I created two resources to help guide you:
Although I’m not aware of any german classes for adults in the Tucson area, there is one nice option for children.
The German American School Association established a children’s German School for children 4-17 and Kinderland Schools ages 3-5. The classes are held on Saturdays with ‘Kinderland’ Schools offer twice a week in the morning or afternoon.
The school is located in the ‘International School of Tucson’ building.
The University of Arizona has an extensive offering of German classes and three degree options including a bachelor’s degree in German studies, a master’s degree in German studies, and a Doctoral degree in transcultural German studies.
All three of ASU’s degree offerings are designed for learning the German language, culture, and history among other areas of focus.
Pima Community College offers German from time to time, though they don’t keep the best current class listings on their website so if you’re interested it’s going to be best to give them a call.
Sadly, I’m not aware of anyone teaching privately in the Tucson area. 😞
This club turned 50 in 2016 and still hosts regular German themed events and gatherings. Including Okoberfests and more.
Welcome to all ages. This is a great opportunity to meet and converse with fellow German Speakers in the area.
Meetings are held every 4th Thursday of the month from 7-9pm at the Ten55 Brewing Company.
From traditional bratwurst and sauerkraut to spätzle this food truck offers authentic German food. Check their calendar to see when they’re nearby.
Servicing the Tucson area for years, they offer a variety of bratwurst and other traditional German food. They also cater if you’re hosting an event. Check out their upcoming schedule here.
Ready for a little road trip?
Due to Fort Huachuca and the connections to Germany with the military base, there are FOUR German restaurants to choose from in Sierra Vista. On top of that, they are all within WALKING distance of each other!
I’ve taught for years at a university, at a language school, and privately. I took all of my teaching experience and combined it into a 3-Step German learning process. Best of all, the 1st step is completely free.
