Have you wanted to learn German for a while and are finally ready to get serious?
Or perhaps you’ve started learning German with Duolingo, Rosetta stone, etc., but find they’re not teaching you the ‘bigger picture’ of how German actually works.
Sometimes even finding a good German class locally can be challenging, though.
So, I created two resources to help guide you:
New Orleans has one German organization with regular adult German classes:
This group’s history goes back over 170 years and are among the oldest living membership organizations in the city!
They host January classes for beginner to Intermediate students that last 10 weeks.
Curriculum is based on the ‘Common European Framework of Reference for Languages’ (also known as CEFR). You may be familiar with their breakdown of A.1, B.1, etc.

The University of New Orleans’s department of foreign languages offers a couple German classes but they don’t offer any degrees in German. Their focus is primarily on Spanish and French.

Slightly Americanized yet still VERY German, Bratz Y’all, not only offers (you guessed it) German Bratwursts in a variety of fashions but hearty German platters, German pretzels, and, of course, beer.

An upper scale restaurant that claims they offer French AND German cuisine. I would argue it’s mostly French, but it still makes the list. Perhaps they’re from Strasbourg?

If you’re going for authentic German food, this isn’t likely going to do the trick (although they do offer a Bavarian pretzel). If you’re going for German beer, however, you’re at the right place.

I’ve taught for years at a university, at a language school, and privately. I took all of my teaching experience and combined it into a 3-Step German learning process. Best of all, the 1st step is completely free.
